Maternity Wear Information and Online Shopping
One of the most common concerns of pregnancy has got to be "what am I going to wear?". Your key concern is going to be comfort.
Keep in mind that you'll probably be warmer than usual due to the extra fat stores and extra blood circulating through your growing body. Also, as your legs and feet may tend to swell a bit, you may find yourself unable to fit into your current shoe and hosiery size!
Sound frustrating? Well, it can be, but we hope this information will help make the process quite a bit smoother.
- You can get away with some basics like leggings, bike shorts, overalls, oversized T-shirts, and roomy A-line dresses once you start to grow up until about the 4th or 5th month.
- After that, you'll probably need to invest in some maternity wear. It doesn't have to be expensive. Spend wisely in some basics, such as the "Pregnancy Survival Kit" or a few choice pieces you can mix and match, and your pocketbook will thank you!
- Key element are going to be underclothes (bra and panties, girdles, hosiery, etc.) and shoes.
- You may find that your feet expand a whole shoe size! They'll most likely stay that way as well. Invest in some comfortable shoes, with heels no larger than an inch or two. Go barefoot when you're at home; your feet will thank you!
- A correct fitting, comfortable, and supportive bra is essential in pregnancy, particularly during the first three months to help prevent sagging later.
- Make sure the bra you choose is supportive with a deep band underneath and comfortable straps. Front-fastening bra's will also be easier for you.
- Be sure to invest in some nursing bras (bras with snap or clip opening flaps) as well about a month before your due date - trust us, you'll need them! Large department stores and specialty shops will be able to help fit you into maternity and nursing bras.
- Once you have a need for maternity clothes you'll find it fairly easy as far as size goes. Most shops size them according to your pre-pregnancy size. For example, if you were a size 8 pre-pregnancy, you'll be an 8 maternity.
- We've listed a generous selection of online stores and shops below, you're sure to find some, if not most, of what you need here. This is especially helpful if there are no maternity shops in your area!
